Gram Flour Sambar | A Recipe..

Gram Flour Sambar is a south-Indian variety of Sambar which is easy to make and a prefect side-dish for Idly,Dosa and Pongal.


Gram Flour1/2 Cup
Onion(Big)1 No
Green Chilly1 No
Curry leavesAs required
Coriander leavesAs required
Tomato1 No
Garlic5 Cloves
Ghee1 tsp
Oil1 tbsp
Chilly powderAs per taste
Sambar powder1 tbsp
Turmeric powder1/4 tsp
Mustard1 tsp
Cumin seed1/2 tsp
Coriander powder1 tsp
Asafoetida1 pinch
SaltAs required


  1. Heat Oil and Ghee in a pan.
  2. Add Mustard, Cumin seeds, Curry leaves, Green Chilly,Chopped Onion and Saute it well.
  3. Add Garlic cloves and Chopped Tomato.
  4. Saute it .


  1. Keep the stove in low flame.
  2. Add Sambar powder,Coriander powder,Chilly powder,Turmeric powder and Asafoetida to Step 1 mixture.
  3. Saute it well.


  1. Mix Gram flour in water without lumps and add it to Step 2 mixture.
  2. Add required Water and Salt .
  3. Allow it boil.
  4. Add Chopped Coriander leaves and Switch Off the Stove.

Tasty and Simple Gram Flour Sambar Ready…

    1. Please find below the method for making Sambhar Poweder.
      Red chilly (recommended kashmiri red chilly) – 50g
      Coriander seeds-50g
      Channa dal-2tsp
      Urad dal-2tsp
      Toor dal-2tsp
      Cumin seeds-2tsp
      Turmeric powder -1/2tsp


      1.Dry roast Red chilly,Coriander seeds,Channa dal,Urad dal,Toor dal,Rice,Cumin seeds,Fenugreek and Pepper in a pan separately in low flame.

      2.After all the roasted items get cooled off. Take roasted items, turmeric powder,asafoetida in a mixer jar and grind it into a fine powder.
