Welcome back to Arhaaths and this has been quite a roller coaster sort of time with the lockdown cloud looming heavily over our heads. Here are the 5 films to watch out for. If you have already watched it, do it again 😜 . The reason being, on repetitive watching, there might be many things which we missed out and that can be an immense source of learning for us in life.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani :
If there was ever cinema made, I don’t think it could create as strong an impact as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Right from the establishment of characters like Kabir, Naina, Aditi and Avi to the way they mature in life and look at it from different perspectives, it has been simply an amazing journey with them all through the movie. The main character Kabir aka Bunny, who is so obsessed with his career in Journalism that he misses out on a few important family moments. On the other hand, Naina jurns her life from being an introvert to the ultra-stylish and extrovert kind of person by not neglecting her career and family. These are the kind of emotions that are covered through the movie and in the end, there is a sense of complete satisfaction that we have watched one of the best movies ever.
Lesson learnt – Career is important, but not at the cost of our emotions like family and friends.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara :
Right from the minute go, this movie turns into a fun ride. But as the movie goes on, there are a few moments like the deep-sea diving and the sky diving scenes where the BGM and the wonderful lines of poetry speak directly to our soul. The characters of Arjun, Imran and Kabir go through a rigorous change in their approach towards their life during their road trip through Spain. And the free wire Laila, who acts as a catalyst to Arjun’s life appears to be the bundle of energy for this soulful ride.
Lesson Learnt – Money is important in life but it cannot fill your soul. Only adventures and true friends can do that!
Oh my God :
There might be a few eye-brows raised by looking at this movie. But wasn’t God portrayed in the best way possible. A way in which we understand the finite nuances of people who make it a business from people’s beliefs. There is a dialogue – “God has made humans and given us sufficient intelligence. But we have utilised that to create barriers amongst ourselves like religions and caste and them being the reason for many wars in this world.” The message was conveyed in the most sarcastic way that it also turned out to be an ultimate fun ride.
Lesson Learnt – It is important to acknowledge our creator and also fine to believe in the power of prayer. But at the same time, we should not be foolish enough to create business for people who play with our sentiments.
Bird Box: ** SPOILERS AHEAD **:
There might be a few question marks over this movie included but Bird Box has set standards that thrillers should maintain to entice a large set of audience. But this movie is definitely more than just a thriller if you try to relate it to our present society. The beast or the entity that is being shown in the movie can be related to our fears in life and how people usually succumb to it and sacrifice their life or surrender to it and fall into the wheel of society expectations. In the end, the only people who could survive this situation were the blind people, meaning the ones who don’t look at it extensively and live life one day at a time.
Lesson Learnt: Live life one day at a time and respect your fears. Giving it over-importance is bad and neglecting it is worse. I guess that’s what corona lockdown has taught us 😜.
If there was a movie which could teach you about life as a whole with respect to a game, this is it. It could create so much of impact that there are glimpses of this movie in many other sports-based movies too like Chak de India, Chichhore. How much can a game teach you? What sort of an impact can it create on your mindset? What did you want to be when you were 17? Watch this movie and you can have a whole new perspective about your own life. It teaches you on how important it is to give respect to get it back in return. Not just that, it is a story based on real incidents. It is the life story of Ken Carter. So this movie easily walks into my top-5 list.
