Araku Valley, a hill station situated close to the Orissa Border, is one of the beautiful places located around 115 Kms away from Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The drive on the Ghat road to Araku valley is entirely lined with thick forest on either side, climbing 4500 ft and sliding down to 3000 ft of valley which makes the trip very thrilling and trekking. 1. Sri Matyalingeshwara Temple:
The temple is dedicated to local mythical fish deity who is believed to have rescued all fishes from a fight between the fishes and the Snakes .The fish deity brought the whole school of fishes to this village which was later named as Matsyagundam( ‘Fish Pool’). This century old village temple is considered as holy place to the villagers.
2. Padmapuram Botanical Garden:
Famous for the toy train that carries kids around, it is definitely a place to visit. Adults can have their share of fun in the tree huts present.Nature is always generous in giving and the garden is no exception.
3. Borra Caves:
A natural wonder few kilometers away is the home to a Lord Shiva temple dedicated by the locals. Located at a altitude of 705 meters above sea level, exhibits a variety of Speleothems.You are sure to enjoy the thrill of walking on slippery path inside the cave with little artificial lighting here and there.The sun rays trying to pierce through the cracks and holes on the cave roof is a sight to hold in our blissful memories.
4. Tyda Village and Park:
The small village is part of the welcoming area for the tourists, where trekking and camping are activities that you have to experience. If you are lucky, you might be the witness to beautiful species of birds.The serene calmness of the village can soothee the never ending inner noise and relax your mind .
The village with the folk tales of fight between Snakes and fishes is this only, where people cannot think of hunting or consuming them. Tourists come here for the sake of tranquility it offers in the cuddle of Nature.
6. Araku Tribal Museum:

Best time to visit:
Summer, the best time to plan your trip as the temperature stays around 18 c to 28 c, while winter can have a drop of temperature upto 5c. The Monsoon season would not be an apt time to make as the rainfall in the region is on the higher side often leading to landslides, thereby your trip becoming more of an ordeal than an idle getaway.
How to reach?
Visakhapatnam would be the airport to stop over, if you are planning to travel by air from where you can reach the Araku Valley by road. There is also two stations present, if you plan to reach by train.
